Ok, now that I am here in the US for roughly a month, it might be time to give a summary about the starnge observations that I made so far:
- Squirrels perform tightrope walks on phone cables (preferably in the morning in front of our living room window).
- When you look at people more than 21 sec while passing them on the street, they assume you know them somehow and say 'hello'.
- Bread, although consiting of air mostly here, is incredibly expensive!
- When you order a coffee, you will be handed some brown water that tastes faintly burned! I need to buy a cafetera/espresso maker!
- Liquid bread (aka beer) is also incredibly expensive but not as bad as its reputation suggests (that is IF you buy the right brand).
- People studying or working at UW get free bus passes ... wicked!
- Although with cable you have the choice of 75 TV channels, there's only crap on the telly (apart from sports and the news).
- There are cars on the streets that are held together only by rust, duct tape and the faith of their owners.
- You are allowed to ride a vehicle and talk on the mobile. Also you don't have to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle (otherwise you couldn't talk on the phone, no? Believe me ... I have seen it!).
